Richard Allen will step down as executive chef at The Orangery at Rockliffe Hall after almost five years.

He will be replaced by Gary Duffy at the 4AA Rosette restaurant, he has worked closely with Richard, as his number two, for the last ten years, both at Rockliffe Hall, and prior to that at Tassili at The Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa in the Channel Islands, where they were awarded a Michelin Star.

On his new role, Gary said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been given this exciting opportunity and am inheriting an exceptional kitchen team. I look forward to working hard with everyone to keep The Orangery on the fine dining map.”

Richard, meanwhile, is moving on to pursue other projects but will continue to work with Gary and the team on a consultancy basis. He also plans to spend more time with his young family.

Simon Roberts, General Manager at Rockliffe Hall, says: “I am delighted for Gary, who has worked so hard since joining us five years ago. There is no-one who deserves this promotion more than him. Because he has worked with Richard so closely, for so long, the transition will be seamless and the food he and his team deliver in the Orangery will continue to be first class.”

“We are sad to see Richard go but wish him the very best with the next stage in his fantastic career. He has produced so many outstanding menus and dishes in The Orangery and has been instrumental in Rockliffe Hall being awarded the coveted 4AA Rosettes.”
