February 2016 sees the first UK launch of Oliver Maki in Soho, London, a leader in contemporary Japanese cuisine with five award-winning restaurants already established internationally.

Oliver Maki is a family-owned business, founded by two Canadian-Lebanese brothers, Oliver Zeitoun and Amer Zeitoun. Launched in Kuwait in 2004, Oliver Maki is already an award-winning concept in the Middle-East, with four critically acclaimed restaurants in Kuwait and one in Bahrain.

Co-founder Oliver Zeitoun conceived the idea behind Oliver Maki. Inspired by Japanese food and tradition, he wanted to create a cuisine that transcends the boundaries of culture and country.

The restaurant’s signature dish is the Oliver Maki Roll. Made up of eight different rolls in one, it includes over 30 ingredients and eight toppings such as house made kizami wasabi, pico de gallo, and chilli mustard. In addition, the roll requires nine cooking processes from complex marinades to labour intensive fresh seaweed cooking and even molecular gastronomy.

A showcase of the Maki chefs’ incredible skill, this single dish represents a culinary journey of different tastes and textures. Akin to an eight course tasting menu on one plate, this signature roll gives diners an understanding of the cuisine and flavours of Oliver Maki.

This exciting new launch is the first of the group’s restaurants to open outside of the Middle-East. London has been chosen specifically for its outstanding and innovative reputation as a culinary crossroads where different flavours, influences and textures may be explored.
