New three star restaurant in the Michelin Guide Italy 2020
The Michelin Guide for Italy in 2020 has dropped with a hefty number of additions, including a new three star, two new two stars and 30 single stars.
The list now totals 374 restaurants, making Italy the second most Michelin-starred country in the world.
The inspectors were generous with chef Enrico Bartolini, who got three stars for his eponymous restaurant at the Milan museum of art and culture and two for Glam in Venice, which is led by resident chef Donato Ascani.
La Madernassa in Guarene also got two stars in the guide, with young chef Michelangelo Mammoliti at the helm.
Among the 30 new one-star restaurants is Massimo Bottura's Gucci Osteria in Florence, which opened at the Gucci museum in January 2018.
Altogether, Italy now has 11 three-starred, 35 two-starred and 328 one-starred restaurants.
The Guide's international director, Gwendal Poullennec, said: “Thirty-three new starred restaurants overlook the culinary scene offering their own personal testimony of the infinite variations of the Bel Paese kitchen.
”Above all, the new three-star restaurant Enrico Bartolini shines at the Mudec [a museum of art and culture], where the chef's personality stands out for research and experimentation, blending perfectly with Milan's dynamism and giving an artist's touch to the rich Italian gastronomic heritage.”
