ROKA is set to open at the end of October in Aldwych, moments from the Strand and minutes from the River Thames, it will be the second London opening this year to mark the 10-year anniversary of Rainer Becker’s flagship on Charlotte Street.

With it’s contemporary Japanese robatayaki cuisine ROKA Aldwych will be the largest of the ROKA restaurants in the city, seating over 150 guests in the restaurant and bar.

For this project, founder Rainer Becker has teamed up with acclaimed Italian designer, Claudio Silvestrin, whom he previously collaborated with on Oblix restaurant and bar. Textural highlights such as porphyry stone, natural tanned leathers, stained grey timber and dried green oak will create a relaxed yet dynamic space that embraces the symbolic heart of ROKA – its central robata grill.

Upon entering, a water feature sets the tone leading guests into ROKA Bar, inspired by Japan’s Yaeyama tropical islands. The exclusive cocktails will mix premium spirits with fresh, island flavours and will be served in hand made, Japanese clay vessels. An extensive selection of bespoke shochu tonics will be housed in custom-made display walls.

ROKA Group Executive Chef, Hamish Brown, has created specially tailored dishes such as Pure Japanese Wagyu beef tartar, smoked soya sauce, wasabi and Nori crackers; Langoustine and cod cheek skewers, shiso and ume boshi and Hokkaido style Japanese cheesecake with crispy apple wafer to sit alongside ROKA’s signature dishes. To compliment the food from the robata, a selection of expertly prepared sushi and sashimi will also be available from the kitchen.

ROKA Aldwych will be open:

Lunch: Monday to Friday 12:00pm-3:30pm, Saturday & Sunday 12:30pm-4:00pm

Dinner: Monday to Saturday 5:30pm-11:30pm, Sunday & Bank Holidays 5:30pm-10:30pm.
