The New Angel wins Farm Africa charity chefs football tournament
The New Angel in Notting Hill demonstrated that they are not only masters of exquisite food and impeccable service but that they can also serve up mean skills when it comes to the football field. The three AA Rosette awarded restaurant reached the final of charity Farm Africa’s Chefs Football Tournament on Sunday, and succeeded in beating rival team Restaurant Story.
Stephen Humphries, Head Chef at The New Angel, said: “We’ve won! It’s amazing that we even managed to reach the final so to win is a real bonus. The guys on my team have been great – although I probably should expect no less given how great they are at the restaurant. We’re just all pleased to be able to support a great charity, whilst also having fun and building on the already strong team spirit The New Angel has.”
Farm Africa is a different kind of charity - simply put they help African farmers to feed themselves and their families. The five-a-side tournament is part of Farm Africa’s Food for Good campaign, uniting the UK food and hospitality industry to help end hunger in Africa – for good. The campaign also involves the Dine for Good initiative, which involves participating restaurants, including The New Angel, encouraging diners to add a £1 donation to their bill.
