Michelin starred chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten is set to open a new restaurant at The Connaught in Mayfair in Spring 2017 alongside Hélène Darroze's two-Michelin star restaurant.

The as yet unnamed restaurant will be located at the front of the hotel and will serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Hélène Darroze will continue to operate her celebrated two-Michelin star restaurant on the other side of the hotel.

Jean-Georges Vongerichten said: “I am excited to make my return to London, one of the most vibrant and dynamic food destinations in the world and I hope to create a new restaurant at The Connaught that reflects both my signature farm to table cooking style but with a few surprises. The Connaught was the first London hotel I ever stayed in and continues to hold a special place in my heart.’’

The restaurant will have a relaxed, informal neighbourhood style when it opens next year and will be designed by architect John Heah who has recently completed highly acclaimed work at The Berkeley.

Massimiliano Binda, The Connaught’s General Manager said, “The Connaught has always had a distinguished and celebrated culinary history, and we believe that Jean-Georges with his forward thinking vision will add something special to the hotel and together with Hélène Darroze create an unbeatable double act in the heart of Mayfair.”

The move marks a return to the Maybourne Hotel Group fold for Jean, who previously operated the Vong restaurant at The Berkeley which closed at the end of 2002. Jean is responsible for the operation of over 30 restaurants worldwide and currently operates Jean-Georges, ABC Kitchen and The Mercer Kitchen in New York.
