Tare Bistro in Bristol has announced its immediate closure, months after being awarded a Michelin reputation.

The bistro was a small, intimate restaurant located in a converted shipping container at Wapping Wharf.

It was known for its modern British sharing plates and a five-course set tasting menu.

The restaurant announced its immediate closure on March 17.

The team expressed gratitude to their supporters and reflected on the positive memories created over the years.

A post on social media read: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the immediate closure of Tare Bistro.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our guests, friends, suppliers and colleagues who have shared meals, memories and produce with us over the years. Your support has meant the world to us.

“All staff have new positions lined up, all suppliers have been or are in the process of being paid and our rent is up to date. We’ve done our very best to act responsibly in what are difficult financial circumstances.”

The now-closed restaurant received a Bib Gourmand at the 2025 Michelin Guide awards in Glasgow.

When celebrating its recent Michelin win, it said: “We are honoured to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand by Michelin yesterday! Many thanks to our hard working team, past and present.

“Congratulations to all of the new Bristol additions and to those that have retained their accolades”
