Michelin Guide UK 2023: 20 Bib Gourmands awarded ahead of this years live reveal

The Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland has awarded 20 Bib Gourmands for 2023, ahead of announcing new stars, green stars and special awards next week

Last month, the Guide announced that it would reveal new stars, green stars and special awards for Great Britain and Ireland on March 27 at its first live event since 2019. 

Chefs who are currently in the guide and those who will be crowned as new additions, have been invited to Silverstone for the live reveal.

Which restaurants were awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2023?

With the addition of these 20 restaurants, 144 restaurants now hold the Bib Gourmand accolade across Great Britain and Ireland.

What is a Bib Gourmand?

Named after the Michelin mascot, The Bib Gourmand recognises "friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices."

Originally marked with an "R" next to the restaurant in the Guide, the Bib Gourmand symbol featuring Bibendum was first used in 1997.

In 2017, the Guide introduced the Michelin plate (or l'Assiette Michelin) for restaurants where it says "inspectors have discovered quality food." As of September 2021 in the UK, new restaurants awarded a plate are revealed on a monthly basis.
