Michelin Guide UK 2019: Social Media Reactions
At a live ceremony at the BFI IMAX in London this afternoon, Michelin unveiled the new stars in the Michelin Guide UK and Ireland 2019.
We've had a look at social media and collected some of our favourite reactions to the news for you.
Gordon Ramsay tweeted his congratulations to his teams.

It was two stars for Mark Birchall, who seemed pretty lost for words:
Congratulations to all the team! Absolutely delighted!!! https://t.co/rLMXWaSvh9

Simon Rogan's Roganic was awarded one star in less than a year:

And not forgetting about the brilliant restaurants retaining stars for another year:

Delighted to have retained our star again this year. Gutted to see the list of stars in Scotland shrinking. But the futures bright I think. Next year. pic.twitter.com/uq85GAXmJy

Many felt that a few restaurants were missing from tonight's reveal...
No new three stars. I just don’t get it. Are we the only country that Michelin represents that seems to be virtually incapable of breeding 3 star chefs? There are some 2 star restaurants out there in this great country that comfortably outshine many around the world with 3. Fact.

Including Jay Rayner, who added his thoughts to Phil Howard's tweet.
The genius of Michelin is that they’ve got chefs to think they own it, so they end up arguing with them over scores which only they decide on. If chefs think they’re so wrong then they should stop idolising them. The aesthetic they reward at the top end is tedious in the extreme https://t.co/nYwbDgehWl

Really chuffed for all the stars retained and gained in #MICHELINguideGBI but I can’t get my head around @adschef being overlooked AGAIN by @MichelinGuideUK and seriously, no second

Mark and Shauna Froydenlund expressed their sadness at losing one of their stars at Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley.
Very tough night for us. So sad with the @MichelinGuideUK result. We love the team @MarcusBelgravia, you work so hard and care so much. #NeverGiveUp #onwardsandupwards

Marcus Wareing himself also tweeted his surprise.
Surprising news after one of our best years ever. I’m as proud of my team today as I was yesterday. It’s business as usual - it’s about good food & fantastic hospitality at the end of the day. Congratulations to all the new winners today.
