Tom Kerridge is chef patron of The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, the world’s first ever two Michelin star pub. It achieved its first Michelin star, along with three AA rosettes, within its first year of opening.

How old is Tom Kerridge?

He has presented BBC Two's Food and Drink since 2015. At The Staff Canteen we want to see what makes chefs tick. We asked Tom a few questions about what he gets up to when he's not in the kitchen:

Would you rather order a starter or a pudding?

Starter.

What would your last meal be?

Fish and chips and a can of lilt.

What was the last thing you ate?

Cold turkey, on its own, from a deli for lunch.

If you weren’t a chef what would you be?

I would like to have been the bongo player in Curtis Mayfield’s  Move On Up track. Or a fisherman.

If you could choose to dine in any restaurant in the world which would you choose?

There are so many places to chose from, but I think I would choose SIETE FUEGOS in Argentina where they cook huge pieces of meat on open fires in a fantastic setting. So if anyone fancies taking me there, let’s go!

Who is you celebrity crush?

I met Liam Gallagher once, I’ve got a lot of man love for him!

If someone was to write your biography what would it be called?

The Fat Kid who met a Rolling Stone.

What do you listen to in the kitchen?

If I’m first in, big fan of BBC Radio 6 music. I’m never first in, so it ranges from between X FM, Radio 1 Xtra, Magic, or a selection from the kitchen team’s iTunes.

What are you most proud of?

My team.

If you could own another chef’s restaurant whose would you choose?

I’m perfectly happy with my own, ta!

Who would you trust to run your restaurant?

The people that already do it, Lourdes Dooley, Aaron Mulliss, Nick Bearshaw, Claire Kreigenfeld and all of their amazing support team, and of course the amazing Alex Longstaff who has to deal with my childish antics on an hourly basis.

Why did you choose to get involved with The Staff Canteen Live?

Anything that involves being able to give something back to the industry in terms of growth and encouragement, myself and the team at The Hand and Flowers are always happy to do. Its a great opportunity to showcase what we do to industry peers and professionals.
