Kray Treadwell reveals plans for Birmingham restaurant
Former Man Behind the Curtain chef and Great British Menu 2019 finalist Kray Treadwell is planning a restaurant in his home city of Birmingham.
The chef, who honed his eccentric cooking style at Michael O'Hare's Michelin-starred Leeds restaurant, left The Man Behind the Curtain last year, already mentioning plans to open his own restaurant.
He subsequently hosted a number of pop-ups in Birmingham, including at La Mariposa and the Craft Dining Rooms.
The name of the venue, 670 grams - is a reference to his daughter, who was born prematurely, weighing less than a pound and a half at the time. The 16-cover venue will be located in the custard factory in the former industrial area of Digbeth.
Kray shared the news on social media - where he said: Can’t wait to bring fine dining to digbeth and give you all an experience to look forward to once it’s safe to do so.
Naturally, a date hasn't been set for the restaurant's launch, but we will update this piece when it has.
