Following its launch in November, chef patron of The Ninth, Jun Tanaka has announced Andy Hall as its new head chef.

Andy, who previously worked with Jun at Pearl where he was sous chef, has been heading up the kitchen at The Ninth since its opening in November 2015 and will continue to deliver the same relaxed dining it's become known for.

On talking about his appointment, Andy said: "I’m really happy, I worked with Jun before and I’m really excited as it’s my first day in the position so I’m ready to hit the ground running!

"I think me and Jun work really well with each other, we’ve worked in similar styles of kitchens. We’re not the shouty sort of chefs - we just get on with it and try to work in a nice atmosphere. So, I think that’s one good thing I have brought to the role.”

The menu at The Ninth situated in Charlotte Street, London, marries simple yet refined French-Mediterranean sharing plates with casual, friendly service and expertly-curated wines. Working alongside Jun, Andy will continue to help develop menu and dish creation for the restaurant located in the heart of Fitzrovia.

“We bounce ideas off of each other but obviously Jun has the final say. We’re currently changing the menu at the moment, we’re working on some new dishes and with the change in seasons hopefully they should be coming out very soon.” Andy said.

Aside from working alongside Jun at Pearl and later as chef and manager at Street Kitchen in Broadgate Circle, Andy has also worked for Michelin star and AA Rosette restaurants including Arbutus and was awarded the Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate Award in 2006.
