Jason Atherton's seventh london restaurant opens this week
The Social Company and executive sommelier, Laure Patry, have announced the opening of Social Wine & Tapas, James Street, London, on Tuesday, 9 June, 2015.
The wine list, created by Laure, includes accessible wines from around the world, as well as wines from small growers. Alongside this, a selection of prestigious vintages and fine wines will also be available through the use of the Coravin system.
A menu of modern tapas style dishes is being developed by Jason and head chef Frankie Van Loo. The dishes will be made with the best of British produce and aim to reflect London’s vibrant food and drink scene. Dishes on the menu will include jamon, Manchego and truffle toastie, heirloom tomato salad with burrata, basil and gazpacho dressing, seafood and rabbit Spanish rice and creme Catalan with orange. A seasonally changing selection of cheeses and charcuterie will also be served to diners via the basement kitchen counter.
Set over two floors, the ground floor will house the wine shop and tapas bar, which will have an open kitchen with a dining counter; banquet seating for up to nine covers, and an elevated wine tasting table for 10. A narrow staircase will lead to a basement wine bar, with additional seating, a second tasting area, a corner bar and a preparation kitchen counter.
Jason is working closely with award winning designers, Russell Sage Studios, to create an urban and contemporary interior with metallic finishes throughout.
Notably, all serving staff will be sommeliers, offering each customer a personable and informed experience when ordering both food and wine. Sommeliers will also be on hand at The Social Wine Shop, offering tastings and guides for the buyer. The shop will also stock glassware, Coravin wine systems and wine accessories.
Social Wine & Tapas will be open seven days a week, from midday to late (the wine shop will open at an earlier time of 10am), and will operate a no reservations policy.
