James Goodyear named head chef at Michelin-starred Adam's Restaurant in Birmingham

James Goodyear is the new head chef at Michelin-starred Adam's Restaurant in Birmingham. 

Joining from his previous role at Ollie Dabbous' Hide restaurant, James trained at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons and also worked at Maeemo in Oslo and Mugaritz in San Sebastian before returning to England.

He is replacing Keiron Stevens (previously of Benu, Gidleigh Park, Michael Wignall at The Latymer, Le Champignon Sauvage), now the executive chef for the the JM Socials restaurant group.

On taking on the role, James said: "I can’t wait to get started, there’s so much potential here to take Adam’s to the next level."

"The young team of chefs are great, very hungry and enthusiastic. I look forward to teaching them new techniques and working with them to continually improve their already exceptional skill levels.

"My culinary style is built around modern, European fine dining, so Adam’s is a great fit for me. Personally, this role is the perfect opportunity to get back to my roots in the Midlands and take on an exciting challenge.

"The kitchen has everything a chef could dream of and it’s very clear that it has been designed by someone who loves to produce quality food.

What's more, he added: "I’m also thrilled to be working with Adam Stokes; having someone like him to collaborate with and run ideas by will be brilliant."

Meanwhile, chef owner Adam Stokes said: “It’s the role of a head chef not just to cook, but to innovate, inspire and teach.

"James will be a great addition to our talented team, and we are all looking forward to working with him."
