Following the success of Back to the Floor in 2013, key figures from the hospitality industry went 'Back to the Floor' for a second time, on Friday 17th April, at five star hotel The Langham in London.

The dinner, in aid of Hospitality Action, raised £53,000 for those in need across the hospitality sector.

The evening saw Danny Pecorelli of Exclusive Hotels & Venues, Philip Newman-Hall of Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Duncan Palmer of The Langham, London and Jonathan Raggett of Red Carnation Hotels, working with the waiters of the evening to test their silver service skills with a menu comprising of asparagus, egg and truffle espuma to start followed by a lamb loin with smoked bacon, baby gem and peas, and popcorn meringue for dessert.

Guest sommeliers included Julia Sibley of the Savoy Educational Trust and Simon Numphud of AA Hotel Services.

Philip Newman-Hall said: “The passion, camaraderie and team effort was such fun to be a part of. I was so proud to hear that we had all helped to raise £53,000 for such a great cause!”

Peter Hancock of Pride of Britain Hotels acted as compere, providing a running commentary throughout the evening.

Peter said: “This was an amazing evening, watching 30 leading hoteliers serving their tables like eager apprentices all in the name of raising money for our industry charity. It’s hard to imagine bosses in any other field doing something like this and I’m proud to have played a small part in the event.”

Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “It was all that we anticipated and more. We are indebted to Danny Pecorelli, Philip Newman-Hall and Duncan Palmer for making this possible and a huge thank you to all involved.”
