Industry Battles it out at Hospitality Action's "Great British Quiz"
By James Euinton
Hospitality Action’s annual “Great British Quiz” raised some £63,000 last Friday (6th June). The money raised will help support vulnerable people across the hospitality industry through a range of projects, from lunches for retired industry members to drugs and alcohol seminars.
Hosted by Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, as seen on The Chase, and taking place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London, the 2014 Quiz saw Torch crowned as triumphant winners for the second year running. The evening was an opportunity for those in the hospitality industry to network and entertain colleagues, as guests answered questions from the world of music, sport and science.
Penny Moore, CEO, Hospitality Action, said: “From William Shakespeare to JK Rowling, Sir Bruce Forsyth to Sir Chris Hoy, our Great British Quiz is a fantastic celebration of all the things our Fair Isle has to offer. We are extremely grateful to Bidvest 3663 and the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge for their support, which has helped raise the £63,000 which will help those most in need across our industry.”
The funds were raised via a multitude of activities, including the live auction. Star lots included a four-course lunch and Champagne reception for 10 guests in the fine dining Charlton Hunt Restaurant at Goodwood Racecourse, donated by Goodwood Food, and a two-night stay for two people at the five-star Connaught, Mayfair. The latter was paired with two tickets to a top 50 West End show and meal at Langan’s Brasserie, kindly donated by The Connaught and Aramark.
