The 27 new inductees as well as seven Apprentice Awards category winners were announced by guest speaker and co-host Michel Roux Jr, chef patron at Le Gavroche, and judge and presenter of BBC Masterchef: The Professionals, at an event at the Tower of London.

Michel said: “I am very pleased to see so many talented young people here today. As a former apprentice myself, I know how important this training is for producing the hospitality leaders of tomorrow.

“These awards are crucial for the industry and I commend the Hospitality Guild and People 1st for this important initiative. I congratulate all the winners and wish them every success in their careers.”

Sophie Roberts-Brown, operations director of the Hospitality Guild, helped co-host the event and she said: “These awards promote the industry as a great place to work, highlight the value apprentices can offer, and celebrate those who play an essential role in supporting apprentices on their chosen career path.

“This has been an incredibly moving and positive event and I’m thrilled that our industry has come together to celebrate so many incredible people. The passion and enthusiasm of everyone involved, the young people, their employers and those who came to support them, points to a great future for hospitality.”

Winners of the categories in the Hospitality Guild Apprenticeship Awards included Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Conan Brooks, Chef de Partie Apprentice at Charnwood Training Group and Advanced Apprentice of the Year Connor Black, Commis Chef at The Hand and Flowers.
