Meet the Great British Menu 2017 chefs from Northern Ireland: Eddie Atwell

This year Eddie Atwell takes on Joery Castel and Tommy Heaney in a bid to make it through to the Great British Menu 2017 banquet which celebrates 140 years of Wimbledon. This year’s brief is to create dishes that capture ‘a taste of summer’ paying tribute to the history and prestige of the Wimbledon Championships.

Eddie Atwell

Eddie’s mum, a teacher at a local catering college, ignited the passion of cooking within Eddie  whilst he was growing up. His enthusiasm for food set him on the path to success and in 2012 and 2013 when he made it through to the final of the Roux Scholarship.

His previous experience includes working along side Steve Love - a previous Roux Scholar - as his right hand man. He spent time training under Simon Rogan at his two Michelin starred restaurant L’Enclume in Cumbria, before heading up the kitchen at Ardtara Country House in Northern Ireland. Eddie is now at St Kyrans, County Cavan.
