Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant manager awarded Westminster Kingsway College Honorary Fellowship

Westminster Kingsway College Culinary Arts and Hospitality students celebrated their graduation from the Professional Chef and Hospitality courses with family and friends at the 2014 Graduation Ceremony at St Stephen’s Church, London on Friday.

They were joined by ten Westminster Kingsway College Honorary Fellowships from the hospitality industry which included Robert Rose, Restaurant Manager for Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, the iconic three-Michelin-star Chelsea restaurant where Gordon Ramsay used to ply his trade and Clare Smyth now heads the kitchen.

Robert said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have been recognised by Westminster Kingsway College and the Faculty for Hospitality and Culinary Arts in this way. It’s such an honour and all the more significant as it’s something I feel so passionate about. Training and educating people in the art of restaurant service not only provides for a better guest experience, but also leads to such a rewarding career.”

The graduation ceremony was held for the College students who had undertaken one of the following courses: Diploma in Restaurant Supervision, BTEC National Diploma Hospitality, Professional Patisserie Scholarship, Advanced Diploma in Patisserie and Confectionary, Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts, Professional Chef Diploma for Patisserie and Confectionary and the Professional Chef Diploma. On leaving St Stephen’s Church, the graduates were honoured by current chef students with a culinary orchestra. Another of the new Honorary Fellowships was presented to Brian Turner CBE, celebrity chef and President of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts.

He said: “I am proud of my relationship with Westminster Kingsway College. Being based in the heart of London gives it a great location as a leader in culinary  education and an inspiration to a lot of people as it shows the very best of what people in the culinary and hospitality industry can do. It’s a pleasure to be a part of such an important family.”

Martin Bates, CEO of the Craft Guild of Chefs was also awarded an Honorary Fellowship and said: “I am very honoured to be awarded this Fellowship from Westminster Kingsway College. The Craft Guild of Chefs works very closely with the college to promote learning and education in the hospitality industry.”
