Gordon Ramsay, Clare Smyth and Simon Rogan restaurants shine in La Liste's top 1000 2020
La Liste held its annual awards ceremony in Paris last night, placing New York's THREE MICHELIN-STARRED Le Bernadin at the top for the second consecutive year, tied with Restaurant Guy Savoy.
La Liste ranks the world's 1,000 best restaurants using a proprietary algorithm, to which is fed a compilation of guidebooks, critic reviews and more than 56 million online reviews of 20,000 restaurants worldwide.
It is sanctioned by France's foreign ministry, and, when it was launched in 2015, was cited as France's response to The World's 50 Best.
Le Bernadin has shared the top position with Guy Savoy for two years, itself ranked first in the world for the past four years.
Among the top 1,000, 130 are Japanese, 126 are Chinese, 116 are French and 113 are in the USA.
UK restaurants only just made it into the top 50, with Restaurant Gordon Ramsay - led by chef Matt Abé - in 42nd position with another two in the top 100: Core by Clare Smyth, with chef Jonny Bone at the helm in 92nd and Simon Rogan's flagship, L'Enclume, in 94th.
Noma, which has been named best restaurant in the world in The World's 50 Best, came out in 93rd position.
"We are honored to be named number one again," said Bernadin chef and co-owner, Eric Ripert.
"With gratitude, excitement and the added motivation of this recognition, our team remains focused on delivering a memorable experience for our Le Bernardin guests."
Meanwhile, Guy Savoy Tweeted his thanks to his guests, stating: "Pleasing you makes us happy."
