Francesco Mazzei joins D&D London’s Sartoria restaurant on Savile Row in Mayfair, London after working for seven years as chef patron at L’Amina.

The renowned chef will make his first appearance when Sartoria reopens after an extensive refurbishment later this year. Sartoria, meaning ‘tailor’ in Italian, is situated in the West End and is one of London’s most stylish and sophisticated Italian restaurants serving Milanes-style dishes.

Francesco’s career started when he was nine, working in his family’s ice-cream parlour. Since then he has worked in a range of places including Rome, Bangkok and London. In 2008 he assisted the opening of the L’Amina restaurant and worked there as chef patron. Francesco said: “I believe now is the right time for me to move into the West End and I am thoroughly looking forward to making Sartoria one of London’s best Italian restaurants”.

David Loewi, D&D’s Managing Director, said, "We are absolutely delighted and thrilled that Francesco will be heading up the new Sartoria.  He is undoubtedly one of the most gifted Italian chefs cooking in London today and will bring something very special to D&D London".

D&D London was founded in the 1980s and is now a large restaurant group that owns and manages a variety of restaurants, which are mostly in London although there are also some in America, Japan and Europe. The restaurants offer an extensive variety of cuisines, ranging from British to Cuban. Francesco said: “It is a joy for me to join a company for whom I have such respect for their quality of chefs and food.”

Francessco left L’Amina in March earlier this year. The award-winning restaurant is situated on Snowden Street, London. Antonio Favuzzi, head chef, has worked at the restaurant since it launched in 2008 and will continue to run the kitchen. L’Amina, meaning ‘Soul’ in Italian, offers an authentic Italian cuisine and Dining experience.
