Up and coming chefs from various regions of the globe have been acknowledged with the inaugral Rising Stars Awards from FOUR magazine.

Zaiyu Hasegwa of Jimbocho Den, Sean Brock of Husk, Agata Felluga of Jour de Fete and Alberto Landgraf of Epice were those four chosen as the winners in their respective areas.

This is the first year FOUR Magazine have run their Rising Stars competition as they focus on finding the new talent of fine dining across the world. Chefs had to be under the age of 35 and in their position for less than five years and in the region for at least two years.

Each region was headed up by an acclaimed judge with Andrea Petrini, Chairman of the World’s 50 Best, representing Europe, Alexandra Forbes, Brazil-born food and travel writer, in Latin America, Mitchell Davies, executive vice president of James Beard Foundation, looking after North America and Melinda Joe, Tokyo-based food and drinks journalist, keeping an eye on matters in Asia & Australasia.

Three regional panellists joined each judge, submitting a list of their selected 10 Rising Star chefs with each list whittled down to four names.

The full results were as follows:

Asia & Australasia winner: Zaiyu Hasegwa, Jimbocho Den

Runners-up: Daisuke Kaneko, Haruhiko Yamamoto, Matt Abergel
