If you are a foodie lover, you have probably heard of the food porn phenomenon.

With over 1.28 billion people on Facebook, 255 million people on Twitter and 200 million people on Instagram, social media has become a part of our everyday lives. With just one click away users can contribute their thoughts, pictures and recipes to their friends and entertain wider followers using the ever-growing hash-tag '#FoodPorn'.

The words 'FoodPorn' has become a term in its own right where users around the world simply use #FoodPorn and become one of thousands to contribute their pictures and recipes of food typically highly caloric and mouth-watering. The hashtag '#foodporn' on Instagram alone has 30 million viewers, on Twitter @FoodPorn has 76.1K followers and on Facebook several pages about FoodPorn range up to 46,500 likes on just one page!

The term was first coined by the feminist critic Rosalind Coward in her 1984 book Female Desire. Over the years the term has transformed itself into new meanings. To use the term food porn is to mean taking 'mouth-watering pictures of delicious foods and proliferating them throughout various social media websites' tempting all their viewers.
