Ferran Adrià, along with brother Albert and fellow co-worker Juli Soler, has released a new book collection focussed on restaurant elBulli.

Having held three Michelin stars between 1997 and 2011, elBulli was widely regarded as the world’s best restaurant until its closure almost three years ago.

That was down in large part to the highly acclaimed Ferran Adrià who assumed the role of head chef from 1987 at the restaurant which was open for six months of the year. Despite nearly two million annual requests for tables, it could only accommodate 8,000 diners each season.

During the times of closure, Adrià and his team spent months devising a completely new menu for the next season. Hours of development work went into the creation of each spectacular dish at the purpose-built elBulli workshop in Barcelona and the gastronomic innovations of the creative team have since influenced restaurants and chefs around the world.

Heston Blumenthal of The Fat Duck describes this new release as “a collection of some of the most innovative and influential recipes over the last decade by one of the greatest chefs in our history.”

The seven volumes provide the first ever insight into the kitchens of elBulli and captures a vital moment in culinary history as Ferran shifted the way we look at gastronomy and think about creative processes.

Included in the books are over 750 recipes which are available to the public for the very first time as well as photographs and details on new techniques, finishing and presentation.

These comprehensive volumes allow unprecedented access to the genius of Ferran Adrià and the creativity that made elBulli legendary.

The collection is due to be released on 7 April 2014 at a price of £425.
