After the news that Alain Ducasse is taking meat off the menu at his flagship Paris restaurant - Ethos, a new meat-free restaurant in London has opened on Eastcastle Street near Oxford Circus.

The restaurant is self-service and specialises in meat-free dishes from around the world.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, from breakfast through to dinner and promises dishes ‘bursting with flavour and colour that look as good as they taste’.

For lunch or dinner, diners can choose between two plate sizes and help themselves to a variety of hot and cold foods such as Japanese miso-roasted aubergine, regularly changing salads and signature dishes such as aloo Scotch egg with spiced tomato ketchup.

Other dishes include courgette ribbons and feta, Eritrean mango and cucumber, napa kimchi and Italian panzanella with hot choices such as Thai sweetcorn fritters, Indonesian nasi goreng and the Lebanese green bean and cherry tomato dish, loubieh.

Desserts include fresh custard donuts, lemon raspberry posset, mini pavlovas and bite-sized cake pops (balls of cake dipped in chocolate).

For an earlier meal, the breakfast menu is available from 7am on weekdays and 9am on weekends and consists of pastries, fruit salad, granola and risogalo (Greek rice pudding).

Ethos also offers weekend brunch at £17 for unlimited food and drink, or £24 with a Bellini. Choices include eggs various ways, Bircher muesli, corn fritters and Spanish omelette.

In addition to this, drinks available include cocktails like Rose Bellinis and Primaveras and a selection of wines from around the world served by the bottle, carafe or glass.

Ethos is open 7am – 11pm Monday to Friday, Saturdays 9am – 11pm and Sundays 10am – 6pm.
