Éric Ripert and José Andrés to launch The Anthony Bourdain Legacy Scholarship
Chefs Eric Ripert and Jose Andres are looking for backers to fund a new scholarship at the Culinary Institute of America in honour of their late friend and chef Anthony Bourdain.
The Anthony Bourdain Legacy Scholarship will be given to pupils studying abroad for a semester, true to the late chef's memory. The college is accepting donations via its website, which you access here.
Earlier this month, the chefs called on their fans to celebrate Bourdain Day on June 25th, which would be Anthony's birthday. Éric Ripert Tweeted: "What better way to celebrate than to announce the Anthony Bourdain Legacy Scholarship to give CIA students the opportunity to follow Anthony’s path of discovery & curiosity."

"We hope that this scholarship will help his memory live on for students who want to experience the world as Anthony did — through cuisines and cultures everywhere."
CIA President Tim Ryan said the chef often visited students at the college to talk "about food and world cultures, his career, and the importance of authenticity in being a chef."
"It is therefore fitting that his memory is being honoured at the CIA through a scholarship for students interested in experiencing cuisines and cultures around the globe."
Anthony Bourdain took his own life on June 9th 2018, to the devastation of his fans around the world. The chef was, and still is considered a role model for chefs and culinary enthusiasts around the world.
His books were international bestsellers and the chef was highly-acclaimed for hosting numerous food travel programmes between 2002 and 2018.
The celebrity chef was filming an episode of Parts Unknown in Strasbourg, France, when his lifeless body was discovered in his hotel room.
