Dishoom Crowned Yelp's Top Restaurant 2016
The Yelp Top 100, crowd-sourced and compiled from Yelp’s historical review and ratings data, details the top 100 eateries in the UK and shows that a whopping three quarters are affordable establishments - with a price range up to £25.
Bombay café, Dishoom, clocked in as the nation’s favourite eatery. Dishoom co-founders, Shamil and Kavi Thakrar said: “It’s an honour just to be included in this list, let alone to be placed first - so we’re really blown away. For us, it’s a particularly big deal to be up there with massively respected institutions like St John, Tayyab’s and Hawksmoor.”
“It’s also a good thing to have so many affordable restaurants in the top 100. It’s very important to us that Dishoom is extremely accessible to all, whether it’s the student spending a fiver on a bacon naan roll or a big group splashing out on a special occasion.” They said.
Yelp London Community Manager Alex Shebar said: “Our community has spoken - and they love good, affordable food.”
“We love seeing that some of the most affordable options are some of the best as it really shows you don’t need to spend a fortune to eat at some of the nation’s best rated spots.”
“We read lots about the top Michelin starred restaurants but realistically, the average person can’t afford to dine there regularly. That’s why it’s so fun to pull together our list based on community-driven reviews of places where real people really eat.”
The Yelp Top 100 is proudly crowd-sourced; ranked based on the opinions of the platform’s ‘Yelpers’ who know local eateries inside out. From pizza to ramen and everything in between, there’s something on the list to appeal to all tastes and budgets.
