Dani García awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2019

Dani García in Marbella has been awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2019, plus four new restaurants gain two stars and there are 25 new one star additions.

Dani García, in the city of Marbella, in Malaga is the latest restaurant to join the three star club  in the Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2019.

The guide's inspectors noted that Dani García has conquered the top echelon with his unique way of reformulating Andalusian cuisine in a contemporary way, ensuring that each development tells a different story based on products related to local traditions. They also fell in love with the game of contrasts true to his ‘contradiction in the kitchen’, as well as the staging of a large part of his dishes.

 Speaking about the celebration of the first presentation gala of the guide in Portugal, Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of Michelin guides, said: "For the first time, we have decided to celebrate the launch of the Michelin guide in Portugal and this is no coincidence. In recent years, talented young chefs have emerged, using their creativity to revisit traditional Portuguese dishes. They are able to transform high quality local products using their their know-how and ingenuity”.

The new two star restaurants in Spain are: Cocina Hermanos Torres in Barcelona, El Molino de Urdániz in the Navarrese city of Urdaitz and Ricard Camarena de València.

In Portugal, Alma restaurant of Lisbon, located in the bohemian Chiado also gains two stars.

This year there are 25 new one stars and these include: Eneko Bilbao (Bilbao), Oria (Barcelona), eMe Be Garrote (Donostia / San Sebastián) Terra restaurant in S'Agaró, in the province of Girona, which are under the leadership of gastronomic figures such as Eneko Atxa, Martín Berasategui or Paco Pérez. As a result, it's worth mentioning that chef Martín Berasategui has two restaurants on his spectacular list of newly Michelin-starred restaurants, and he is now the guardian of 10 Michelin stars!

The notable increase in the number of starred restaurants in Madrid is another highlight of this edition these are Yugo, La Tasquería, Clos Madrid, El Corral de la Morería Gastronómico and El Invernadero.

In the province of Alicante, Beat and Orobianco also gained a star.

In Portugal, stars were given to G Pousada in Bragança and A Cozinha de Guimarães.

The following restaurants have also received a Michelin star: La Barra de Carles Abellán, in Barcelona, ​​the Etxanobe Atelier restaurant in Bilbao (Vizcaya), Trivio, in Cuenca, Bagá, in Jaén, LÚ Cocina y Alma, in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), El Xato from La Nucía (Alicante), A Tafona, in Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña), El Molino de Alcuneza, in Sigüenza (Guadalajara), and finally, the Cancook restaurant in Zaragoza.
