Host of cities boast new starred restaurants in Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe
The 33rd edition of the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe has seen a number of newly starred establishments including Athens’ Funky Gourmet collecting two stars. This year’s selection also includes as many as four newly honoured restaurants in Vienna including vegetarian offering Tian, while in Hungary, Borkonyha Winekitchen in Budapest gains a star.

The Staff Canteen Live continued with a second day of great cooking from Michael Wignall, Richard Davies and Luke Holder at the Hotel and Catering Show in Bournemouth. Two-Michelin-starred Michael Wignall from The Latymer at Pennyhill Park started the day’s demos with his deconstructed take on a traditional pear crumble – Passe Crassane pear with violet, chocolate and hazelnut crumb, a dish he chose for its use of many different ingredients, all complementing each other.

New seafood and grill set to open at Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall
A new seafood and grill restaurant is to open at Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall, overseen by the hotel’s current executive chef Neil Haydock. Zacry’s will open on 15 March and specialise in seasonal food that combines local influences with international touches and contemporary American cuisine. Haydock also oversees the hotel development’s other restaurants and cafés – including the Living Space, the Beach Hut and, to some extent, Fifteen Cornwall (which is a separate charitable entity).

Forget coral and tropical fish, head underwater in the Maldives and you can see works of art. A new exhibition has been set up at two of the most exclusive resorts in the Indian Ocean, and you can only see it from under the sea. Guests at the Huvafen Fushi and NIYAMA hotels will have to head down into the underwater spa and champagne bar if they want to get a glimpse of award-winning visual artist Andreas Franke's latest pieces.
