Applications open for Professional MasterChef 2014

Applications are now open for this year’s edition of Professional MasterChef with a deadline for entries set at 4 April.  Seven top quality winners have already been crowned and now Professional MasterChef is back and looking for it’s next champion.  Long established as one of the top professional competitions in the country, this new series is once again looking for chefs with the ambition to reach the top of the industry and the talent to cut it in the world’s best kitchens.

Andrew Scott opens Restaurant 56 at Sudbury House Hotel

Chef Andrew Scott, who won a Michelin star in 2014 at the Curlew in East Sussex, has joined the new Restaurant 56 at Sudbury House hotel in Faringdon, Oxfordshire.  Having left the Curlew in December, Scott has developed a menu focusing on classic British ingredients with “refined twists” at the 28-cover restaurant in the three-AA-star, 49-bedroom hotel.

Chef Fabrice Vulin adds Moroccan touches to the menu at Caprice

Despite the departure of founding chef Vincent Thierry, Caprice at the Four Seasons has managed to retain the favour of both Michelin inspectors and the judges of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants.  Earlier this week, Caprice was ranked 13 among Asia's top 50 restaurants, down one place from last year. The most recent Michelin guide gave the restaurant two stars, a high ranking for a venue that had no head chef for months, even if it is a drop from the three stars it held for several years.

Ryan cooks up a storm to win best chef in Wales title

This year is already turning out to be pivotal in the life of talented Maesteg chef Ryan Jones.  On Monday, the 30-year-old cooked up a storm in the kitchen to scoop the National Chef of Wales contest final at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhos-on-Sea, and plans to use the £2,000 prize money to pay off the balance on his wedding to hairdresser Rebecca Colston in April.

Return to Oz: John Torode to give UK viewers a taste of his home country

The Masterchef presenter, who has lived in the UK for 20 years, has just returned from a road trip across his native country for his new television series, John Torode’s Australia.  Over 10 episodes, he will revisit childhood haunts, along with the people and places that influenced his cooking and inspired him to become a professional chef.  His foodie trail covers five states - Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania – as the presenter catches up with family and friends and recreates some of his favourite Aussie dishes.
