Hunt for Yorkshire’s best young chef


THE chef and owner of one of only five Michelin-starred restaurants in Yorkshire is searching for the county’s best young chef.  For the second year running, James Mackenzie of the Pipe and Glass Inn, at South Dalton, near Beverley, has teamed up with the Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School and farming company JSR, both based at Southburn, near Driffield, to invite teenage chefs to compete for the Golden Apron 2014.

More female chefs should be in top kitchens, says Michel Roux Jr


There should be more top female chefs but some kitchens are still ‘stuck in the dark ages,’ says Michel Roux Jr, a judge on 'MasterChef: The Professionals.'  However Roux said despite there being four men in this year's final, women are equally as talented as men, and more needs to be done to get them into higher positions, mirroring his own two Michelin starred kitchen which is run entirely by females.

Tom Sellers has a simple message for "all the haters" out there. Because, yes, despite his stellar year, not everyone is a fan; or perhaps it's the success that's to blame. After all, the 26-year-old has gone from hosting a few pop-ups to running a modish, waiting-list- only restaurant in just eight months. And did I mention the Michelin star?
