Colleagues, friends and guests pay tribute to Lerpwl's late chef Cara Moroney

Friends, colleagues and guests of Lerpwl restaurant have shared loving tributes to chef Cara Moroney, who sadly passed away suddenly on January 3rd, 2022. 

Chef Ellis Barrie issued a social media post in memoriam to Cara, saying that she would be "a missed member of the family," on whom the team could always rely for "her hard work, dedication, subtle backing vocals to Jack and a great acceptance / distribution of good quality kitchen banter."

Cara joined the team at the Liverpool restaurant as a commis pastry chef in April of last year with no previous experience in professional or commercial kitchens, but, Ellis said, the team relied on her "above her position," as she helped see them through a number of difficult times.

"One of her greatest achievements was the growth in her confidence and self belief," he said, and "she grew out of her shy, timid being, into a blossoming tulip who could converse yearningly and naturally with our customers, in a true 'Total hospitality' Lerpwl manner.

"Her subtle dance moves, backing vocals and spinning around the kitchen along with that mischievous grin and eyebrow raise she would deliver whilst shuffling past with haste will be greatly missed.

"Cara was on her way to becoming a great asset to hospitality and I hope her spirit finds a path into the success of our futures."

The chef called for anyone with fond memories of Cara to share them under the post, to give her loved ones "an insight on our relationships with Cara as friends, colleagues and customers" - and they did, with many remembering the chef when visiting the restaurant.
