Claude Bosi and his brother, Cedric, have acquired new pub premises in Esher, Surrey, and will officially launch The Swan Inn on May 20 2016.

The attractive pub site was built in 1905, and is conveniently located close to both Esher Common and the Sandown Racecourse. The menu could be described as ‘English food from a Frenchman’, and will feature many traditional pub and comfort food favourite dishes. Claude Bosi will oversee the menu with head chef Justin West, who has previously worked with Claude.

The manager will be Joseph Hendriks, who has worked at Hibiscus, and at Claude and Cedric’s previous west London pub, The Fox & Grapes in Wimbledon Village.

Typical dishes will include Crab on toast with spring leaf salad and mustard dressing; Lyonnaise salad with poached eggs, organic bacon and crispy croûtons; Rump of Welsh spring lamb with Moroccan mint pesto; Skate wing with beurre blanc, Jersey Royals and spring greens; The Swan burger; Treacle tart with clotted cream; and Rhubarb jelly and custard with Scottish shortbread. A traditional Sunday roast with accompaniments will be served throughout the day.

The 55-seat restaurant area will have a modern, updated interior, but will retain many of the traditional touches of the pub, including its fireplaces and high ceilings. There will also be a private dining room on the first floor to accommodate up to 14, and outdoor seating, half of which is fully covered, for up to 100, with seasonal heaters and umbrellas.

There will also be six comfortable but modest guestrooms, open from late June, and ranging from £60-£100 per room, including VAT. The Swan Inn will be open daily – Monday-Friday lunch from noon-2.30pm and dinner 6pm-9.30pm, and through the day from noon-9.30pm on Saturday, and until 8.30pm on Sunday. In early July, a daily breakfast service will commence from 7.30am.

The reservations number will be 01372-462 582, but it will not be active until May 9. Bookings can be made online. The website is www.theswanesher.co.uk. The Twitter handle is @theswan_esher
