Chefs invited to enter Slider Decider 2014
Professional chefs are being called to come and display their culinary creativity to make signature sliders in the Slider Decider cook-off later this year.
Challengers will fight it out in the award-winning The Gun gastropub at the Docklands overlooking the Thames in front of food fans from across the city and a stellar line-up of judges including: Rebecca Seal from Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, acclaimed restaurant critic Tracey MacLeod, London Evening Standard’s Food Editor Victoria Stewart and Editor of Restaurant magazine Stefan Chomka.
The event takes place from 6pm on Thursday 5 June with Opera Tavern’s Jamie Thickett and Ben Tish winning last year after their slider of Iberico pork and foie gras with crispy pig’s head, salted liver, courgette relish, aioli and guindilla creation.
Dishoom was beaten into second place with their slow-cooked leg of lamb marinated in chilli, garlic and ginger, tossed in butter and lime juice and served in a soft sourdough slider bun with onion and pickles.
MasterChef 2011 champion Tim Anderson of Nanban rounded off the top three with a Sasebo slider using Wagyu beef.
Entry fee will be £25 per competitor and a shortlist of finalists will be chosen before the event in June with prizes given to the winner and runner-up.
The deadline for applications is just over a month away on Monday 14 April so if you think you have what it takes then simply email Charlie@rochecom.com for more details and an application form.
