Simon Ulph has left his role as senior sous chef at Michelin-starred SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel.

Simon previously had spells working in London, California, Kent and the Isle of Wight at venues such as The Swan at the Globe Theatre, Michelin-starred The Hambrough with Robert Thompson and Morimoto, having met chef Masaharu Morimoto whilst working at the 2012 Olympics.

The past 18 months has seen Simon working under Ollie Bridgwater at Gilpin in the Lake District.

Taking to social media to announce his exit, Simon said: “Well… After a year and a half my time at the Gilpin has come to an end.

“I’ve met so many amazing people during my time here. People I will call my friends for life, each and every one of them have made a massive impact on my life and I will never forget it.

Now for the really soppy part. Ollie Bridgwater, I can’t thank you enough. You have been there for me personally and professionally, we have gone through thick and thin together to build the restaurant to where it is now.

“Thank you for everything mate, one day we will work together again.

“Over and out Gilpin.”
