Award-winning film Boiling Point to return as BBC TV series

The critically acclaimed film Boiling Point is set to return as a five-part TV series.

The film told the story of a busy London kitchen and picked up a string of accolades including four wins at the British Independent Film Awards.

Variety reported that many of the film's cast will reprise their roles for the series, including Graham as Andy, Vinette Robinson as Carly, and Hannah Walters as Emily.

Director Philip Barantini is also returning to helm the first two episodes. James Cummings, who co-wrote the original film with Barantini, is writing the series.

Talking about what fan can expect from the series, the writers talked about how the series will still bring the "soul of the film" to the smaller screen, despite confirming that they will not use the one-shot technique for the entirety of the five episodes.

"The incredible reaction to the film, its story and specifically the characters along with the huge desire to know more and delve deeper into their worlds has led us to create a drama series with the BBC in which we will keep the audience gripped, intrigued and involved in each of the characters’ journeys," they said.

Fans of the film’s cinematography will be glad to know the new series will incorporate the same fast-paced style and camera shots.

They added: "Although we have hung up our feature-length one-shot boots, our audiences can still be excited by extraordinarily lengthy shots and camera techniques that will complement the pure naturalism that was the essence and soul of the film."

It’s believed that the series adaptation will take place six months on from where the film ended.
