The Staff Canteen is delighted to announce that 2014 will see the launch of a new feature that celebrates food service professionals as part of a new era of collaboration with chefs and food service teams.

The Staff Canteen Managing director Mark Morris said: “I was challenged to deliver this recently while filming at Gleneagles by the hotel’s Director of food and beverage, Alan Hill, a person that I hold the utmost respect for. I spoke with two-Michelin-star Andrew Fairlie on the same day, then just about everyone we met from some of the biggest industry names right through to the college lecturers and students and the simple answer was "do it" so we did; it's that simple!”

The feature will kick off in January and who better to start the feature than Fred Sirieix, General Manger at Galvin at Windows, situated on floor 28 of the Hilton Park Lane hotel. Fred is one of the most passionate front of house professionals in the industry and it was no surprise that Michel Roux Jr teamed up with Fred in 2011 for the BBC TV series, Michel Roux's Service.

The feature which is a monthly feature, will highlight and champion the importance of industry professional such as Fred and his peers, these are the people that can make or break a good night out and are the direct contact point between the chef and the customer. The Staff Canteen is delighted to be celebrating this sector, and will be looking to expanding and developing this feature over the coming months.
