Amador recoups its third Michelin star in European Cities guide 2019

Michelin has published its 2019 guide for European Cities, dishing out 55 new accolades to the region's top restaurants. 

Amador in Vienna received its third star two years after being given its second - but it isn't the restaurant's first rodeo:  Chef Juan Amador launched the in Langen, Hesse venue in 2005, and was awarded three Michelin stars in 2011, losing one in the 2017 guide.

Meanwhile, seven restaurants received two Michelin stars, 44 received their first star, and three restaurants were recognised for offering good value for money, and given the guide's 'Bib Gourmand' distinction. 

Among the new stars are traditional Hungarian restaurant, Stand, and István Veres' Babel, both of which are in Budapest. 

Vienna's aend got its first Michelin star for its Scandinavian inspired modern take on Austrian classics. 

In total, the European Cities guide counts 23 three star restaurants, 92 with two stars and 382 with one. 

Newly appointed international director of the guide, Gwendal Poullennec, applauded the fact that two Croatian cities - Zaghreb and Dubrovnik - and Reykjavik in Iceland for featured in the guide for the first time.
