The first ever Bib Gourmand Germany by the Michelin guide is out, which gives a preview of all the restaurants that will receive the Bib Gourmand distinction in the Michelin Guide Germany 2016.

This year 471 restaurants have been awarded a Bib Gourmand, an increase of 30 percent in relation to 2010. Among them, 50 new restaurants will receive a Bib Gourmand for the first time in 2016.

Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guides said: "Year after year, Bib Gourmand meets with great success both with the public, delighted with all the good ideas, and with professionals who have taken over this niche to promote high quality cuisine that combines simplicity, conviviality and reasonable prices."

"Sometimes overlooked, but more and more numerous, these restaurants - real favourites with the inspectors - delight Michelin Guide readers because whatever the type of cuisine they can always expect high quality within a sensible budget."

The 2016 Bib Gourmand Germany Guide dedicates a total of 288 pages to these restaurants, which are not only recognized by the inspectors for their excellent value for money but also offer a full menu (starter, main course and dessert) for a maximum of €37.

With 151 restaurants, the state of Baden-Württemberg has the most Bib Gourmand restaurants. However, the German Bib Gourmand capital lies in the north - in Hamburg where there are 15 Bib Gourmand restaurants.

The Michelin "2016 Bib Gourmand Germany" guide is available in stores from Friday 13 November. It will cost €17.90 in Germany.
