47 London restaurants feature in Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants
Almost half of the country’s best restaurants are in London, with seven in the Midlands, according to the latest Sunday Times 100 Top Restaurants.
The guide, to be published fully on October 19th, lists 47 restaurants from the capital in its top 100, marking the first time London eateries make up less than half of the list.
Two London restaurants are featured in the guide’s top ten: The Ledbury in Notting Hill and Rasoi in Chelsea. Three Midlands restaurants also feature: Mr Underhill’s in Ludlow, Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham and Harry’s Place in Great Gonerby, the highest ranked new entry in the entire top 100.
Thirty-three London restaurants retain their place since last year, while there are eight re-entries from previous years. There are also six new entries, including Simon Rogan’s Fera at Claridge’s and Marianna of Notting Hill. Another new entry is The Clove Club in Shoreditch, whose head chef Isaac McHale is one of the youngest on the list.
Outside London, Birmingham is one of the few British cities to feature more than one restaurant in the list, with its entries including Purnells and, new for this year, Loves. Rounding off the Midlands entries are the well-regarded country house hotels Fischers at Baslow Hall in Derbyshire and Hambleton Hall, Rutland.
