Market Report - UK seasonal update 7 September 2015
This week's market report from Wild Harvest features red meat radish, Turkish figs and ceps as well as a whole host of other fruit and vegetables currently in season which you can see below:
Mushrooms and truffles:
We are only one to two weeks away from the first Autumn truffles and the Scottish girolles are still beautiful and full of fragrance.
Giant Puff balls are available sporadically.
Fruits:
Muscat is still gorgeous and eats very well and Turkish figs are now available.
Sloes are being foraged for the sloe gin “aficionados”. Damson and crab apples harvested at the moment will be used to make seasonal jellies but Cox apples are just around the corner and walnuts in shells are also available.
Vegetables:
Root vegetables play a big part in our offering this month with the following now available
- Red meat radish
- Boule d’or turnips
- Baby parsnips
- Parsley roots
- Salsify
- Candy, yellow and white beetroot
Our foraging offering features:
- Sea aster
- Sea purslane
- Sea beet
Game:
Partridge, venison and woodpigeon are in good supply and we expect mallard availability to improve with time.
