Who is chef John Simpson-Clements, MasterChef: The Professionals 2021 semi-finalist?

Introducing John Simpson-Clements, one of 32 chefs taking part in MasterChef: The Professionals 2021, airing on BBC One every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9pm.

John impressed judges Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace in both his skills test and with his signature dish, then went on to face the critics in the quarter finals, securing a spot in the semi-finals, which will be broadcast on Tuesday 7th December at 9pm, with following episodes on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th December at 9pm.

Biography

John worked at Burleigh Court Hotel in Stroud in 2015, followed by stints at The Woolpack Inn in Slad, Cowley Manor Hotel and The Pointer in Brill before returning to Burleigh Court Hotel in Stroud as a a sous-chef. 

The chef then headed over to Australia, before joining the opening team at The Eldar Restaurant in Bath as a sous-chef. 

John is currently working freelance, and will soon join The Tinamba Hotel restaurant in Victoria, Australia, as a sous-chef.

A fervent foraging-enthusiast, John is a strong believer in farm-to-table cooking, supporting local farmers and producers nearby to the restaurant he works at.
