Member of the Month September 2023: Nathan Strachan

Here at The Staff Canteen, we feature a different member every month we think deserves to be celebrated - this month’s winner is Nathan Strachan.

Current Place Of Work/Position?

What is your cooking style and what should people expect from the food on your menu?

My cooking style is based around seafood and what fruit and veg is in season and available. I always look for the best quality ingredients.

What is your favourite dish to cook and why?

My favourite thing to cook has to be a Sunday roast. It reminds me of when I was younger and it always brings people together.

Name a food item/dish/ingredient that isn't considered "cheffy" but you love to eat?

One of my favourite things to eat that isn’t considered cheffy has to be a good breakfast. It's always something I love to have on my days off and it has to be a full English breakfast.

What do you like about The Staff Canteen app and website?

I love using The Staff Canteen website because I get to see what’s happening in other restaurants and what other chefs are making. The Staff Canteen gives me the opportunity to take inspiration from other dishes and to try new things.

What are your plans for the future?

In the future, I’d love to open my own fine dinning restaurant one day.

What would you like to see done differently in the industry?

For me there’s not anything I would specifically change about the industry, for me it’s something I love being a part of, and I wouldn’t want to change something I enjoy.
